Introducing Kanopy: Stream Movies and TV with Your Library Card

We’ve now added the streaming service Kanopy to our digital library! With a library card from Stillwater, Bayport, or Washington County libraries, you can access a wide selection of films, TV shows, documentaries, and educational content—available anytime, anywhere!

 

What You Can Enjoy with Kanopy

  • Award-winning Films: From critically acclaimed classics to indie gems.
  • TV Shows: A rich mix of American and international selections.
  • Documentaries: Covering a variety of topics such as history, science, the arts, and more.
  • Educational Content: Perfect for lifelong learners seeking to expand their knowledge.
  • Kanopy Kids: A dedicated collection of children’s programming offering unlimited viewing for 30 days. No tickets are required for Kanopy Kids content!

 

Things to Know

  • Monthly Ticket Allocation: Each patron receives 30 tickets per month to access regular content. Unused tickets do not roll over to the next month, and they reset on the 1st of each month. Most movies require 2-4 tickets per title. TV series typically require 5 tickets per season.
  • Checkout Periods:  Most movies are available for 72-hour checkout. Checkout periods for TV series vary by the number of episodes in a season, typically ranging from 72 hours to 5 days.
  • Eligibility: Kanopy is available only to Washington County, Bayport, and Stillwater library cardholders.
  • Account Setup: Patrons must create an account using their email, name, and a password. Accounts are for patrons 18 and older. Patrons must agree to and adhere to Kanopy’s terms and conditions when creating an account.

 

How to Get Started

  1. Download the Kanopy app or open Kanopy on your preferred device
    • Computer: Visit the Kanopy website to stream videos on your computer.
    • Smart Phone: Download the Kanopy app for iOS or Android devices.
    • Smart TV:  Use the Kanopy app on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick, and more.
  2. Find “Washington County Library – Minnesota,” and log in with your library card number and PIN.
  3. Create a Kanopy account using your name, email, and password. This account will allow you to log in across devices.
