September – October 2024:
Visit the library’s gallery in September and October to view Karen Chan’s classic still life paintings. As an artist, art instructor, and artpreneur, her mission is to inspire, educate and serve the art community and beyond. She teaches monthly classes at the library, and some of her students’ pieces will be included in the exhibit in mid-September.
Karen loves to paint still life subjects in oil and acrylics. She is particularly drawn to porcelain objects and flowers. Inspired by the Old Masters’ chiaroscuro style, Karen strives to achieve depth and drama with the use of light and shadows. Embracing the spontaneity of alla prima techniques, she aims to captivate viewers through bold and confident brushstrokes.
Meet Karen at the artist reception on Thursday, September 26 at 6:30 PM.
