The 2021 Caldecott Medal Winner for the “most distinguished American picture book for children” was awarded to We are Water Protectors, illustrated by Michaela Goade and written by Carole Lindstrom. Four Caldecott Honor Books were also named: A Place Inside of Me: A Poem to Heal the Heart, The Cat Man of Aleppo, Me & Mama, and Outside In.
