Storytimes Resume in September!

Storytimes are back in September!

Storytimes at Stillwater Public Library offer a joyful, engaging experience while simultaneously providing powerful developmental opportunities.  More than just reading aloud, our storytimes are immersive experiences designed to spark imagination, foster learning, and build a love for stories and books. Every detail, from story selection to the way transitions are handled, is carefully considered to create a nurturing environment for young minds.

Preschool Storytimes with Miss Kim and Baby Bear on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM, and on the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 AM, help prepare children ages 3-5 for school. Through a blend of stories, songs and poetry enhanced by puppets, props and music, Miss Kim fosters early literacy skills and essential social-emotional development. Children will have fun while practicing important skills like group participation, self-regulation and alphabet knowledge. These interactive storytimes model early literacy techniques in a playful way, building a strong foundation for future learning.

Baby and Toddler Storytimes with Miss Erin on Thursdays at 10:30 AM focus on bonding and early learning. Through songs, rhymes, and readings from large picture books, Miss Erin creates a relaxed atmosphere and engages with children at their level. With a significant focus on empowering caregivers with ideas for songs, games, and repetition that can be enjoyed at home, storytime serves as a support and inspiration for the daily magical moments between caregivers and their little ones. Designed for the youngest learners, ages 0-2, the program segment is shorter and followed by a playtime for interacting with other babies and toddlers.

No registration is required for the storytimes. Programs typically take place upstairs in the Margaret Rivers Room.

Recently, a grandmother shared a remarkable video of her granddaughter “reading” just like Miss Kim. The child’s grandma noted that it was amazing to see how her granddaughter used inflection, pauses and observations about the pictures as she shared the story. “Storytimes have been an invaluable experience for her. She’s learned how to be with kids in a group setting, meet and make friends, and build social skills.”
