January – February 2023:
The Nature in Art and Imagined Vignettes of artist Beth Marcus will be featured in the library’s gallery beginning on January 8 through February. Meet Beth at an artist reception on Thursday, January 19 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM.
Beth’s artworks are mixed media designs that combine less traditional materials with acrylics to create unique works of art. Her technique was developed many years ago while designing cabinet doors and has continued to evolve through life experience.
Beth states, “When I am drawing my designs, I create vignettes of imagined scenarios in nature, building a bit of a story as my art evolves. When I create water in a piece, I hear it lapping the shoreline or sloshing against a log that I find soothing. When building texture, I’m taken back to a time in the sandbox with my sons. Being a big fan of hand stitching and embroidery, I have done a fair amount of it so I tend to add my version of a stitch mark in my art. I have found working on my art and listening to audiobooks is the perfect creative environment.”
The exhibit is located on the upper level of the library in the Gallery. The exhibit is viewable during library hours.
